Course
Description
This course is a 2-day "boot camp" primarily for "word
people" whose jobs now require visual literacy. Attendees
will learn the basics of visual language, especially the syntax
and semantics of tightly integrating words and images. Topics
in the course include: basics of diagrams, icons, quantitative
charts and graphs, illustrations, how to integrate all of these
into new communication units. Applications include: presentations,
paper reports and documents, and websites.
Who Should Attend the Visual Language Course?
Instructors
This course is taught by a team of instructors trained by Robert
E. Horn.
Length
and schedule
The length of the course is two days from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites. No drawing skills. No computer skills.
Participants don't even have to be able to draw a straight line.
The course is based on the assumption that many people need to
learn visual idea sketching for the purpose of initial brainstorming
and thinking through business problems. This fluency can be easily
translated to specific computer graphics applications.

Class Size
Class size is limited to twenty people. Often during the course
you will work in smaller teams to complete projects.
