Robert E. Horn is a visiting scholar in the Program on People, Computers and Design of the Center for the Study of Language and Information at Stanford University for the past few years. He has taught graduate courses at Harvard and Columbia universities and at Sheffield University in England. The inventor of Information Mapping®'s method, a powerful, comprehensive technique for analysis and organization of information now taught in 31 countries, Horn is also a pioneer in hypertext, the method of linking information on the World Wide Web. He is the author of Mapping Hypertext, a breakthrough book, which anticipated the intense visual-verbal integration of the Web, and is among the early books on hypertext still enjoying regular sales because of its focus on understanding the underlying structures and organization of information.

Robert E. Horn is well-known in the business world as the founder of Information Mapping®, Inc., an international consulting company that occupies the "complexity niche" in the training business. Horn devised the company's methodology for analyzing complex subject matter and turning it into clear, concise, efficient documents, both on paper and online. His methods are now taught to Fortune 1000 companies in 31 countries. Almost 20,000 students a year learn Information Mapping's method and well over 200,000 have been through the courses. After serving as CEO for almost 20 years, Horn turned the company over to its management, and became Chairman, a position he still occupies.

He has recently written the book, Visual Language: Global Communication for the 21st Century, and now frequently teaches courses in visual language at major U.S. companies. His visual language courses are also available in Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, and Singapore.
